Bringing the Olympic Values to life

The topic “How to bring the Olympic values to life and what impact do these values have through the IOC’s programmes?” was today at the centre of the discussions of the 119th Session in Guatemala City. Reports by IOC President Jacques Rogge and the Chairmen of various Commissions illustrated the depth, variety and great impact of the IOC’s activities. “The Olympic Games are an extraordinary means for bringing together the world’s athletes in a spirit of excellence, respect and friendship”, underlined President Rogge in a video shown for the first time at the Session. He added “At the same time, these values are experienced day after day through our multitude of programmes.” This video addresses eight action areas: “Women and Sport”, “Education and culture”, “Athletes’ career programme”, “Olympic Solidarity”, “Development”, “Sport and peace”, “Environment” and “Sport for All”.
