Best wishes for the Lunar New Year


To mark the Lunar New Year, IOC President Jacques Rogge and IOC Director General Urs Lacotte conveyed their very best wishes to Mr Liu Qi, President of the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and to Mr Yuan Weimin, President of the Chinese Olympic Committee.




Olympic values
"May the Year of the Rooster bring you luck during this new year. Your efforts for the promotion of Olympic values and ideals have met with a great response all over China and have shown the world the involvement of China in the Olympic Movement", they wrote to the two Chinese sports leaders.




Thanks to BOCOG staff
"We would also like to extend our warmest wishes and thanks to all BOCOG staff for their ceaseless efforts and outstanding work towards the 2008 Olympic Games. We look forward to continuing our fruitful relationship, aiming for the successful hosting of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008 in Beijing", they added in their letter to BOCOG President.




Valuable contribution of the NOC
The letter to the NOC President ended with "We thank you again for the valuable contribution of the Chinese Olympic Committee to the preparation of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing".
