BEIJING 2008: Going For A Song

The Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad – Beijing 2008 (BOCOG) has announced that it is looking for theme songs for the Beijing Games. The competition is open to entries from institutions, professionals and amateurs from China and abroad.

People’s Olympic Games
The competition is part of BOCOG’s campaign to promote the concept of the “People’s Olympic Games”, and it is for this reason that anyone can enter. There is no restriction on the form or genre of the musical submissions, but they should fully display the Olympic spirit of solidarity, respect, fair play, joy and friendship.

Panel of Judges
A panel of professional musicians will select the top ten entries, and each of the ten finalists will receive a cash prize of 10,000 yuan (approx. US$ 1,120). All entries should be recorded on cassette or CD and should be accompanied by a written copy of the song, the author’s biography, the contact details of the author and a signed letter of copyright transfer. The deadline for the submission of entries is 25 April 2005. The results of the competition will be announced in June 2005.
