Athens Judo Open 2004

As part of the preparations for the 2004 Olympic Games, an international tournament, the "Athens Judo Open 2004", which will resemble the Olympic Games format, will be staged by the Athens Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (ATHOC). It will be held between 16 and 18 January at the Ano Liossia Olympic Hall (LIH), which is the venue for the judo events during the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.

Unique opportunity
The tournament will provide a unique opportunity for the athletes to become familiar with Athens and the Olympic judo venue. The competitions will be held in three men's (under 66 kg, under 81 kg and under 100 kg) and three women's categories (under 52 kg, under 63 kg and under 78 kg).

Ano Liossia Olympic Hall
During the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, judo competitions will be staged in the Ano Liossia Olympic Hall, which has a seating capacity of 8,000. Competition events will take place within the span of seven days (August 14-20). Each day, one women's and one men's weight category will be completed, starting with the lighter weight categories.
