All you need is YOU to get active on Olympic Day!
On 23 June, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Movement are celebrating their 65th Olympic Day! Join in the fun, get active and you could win a trip to The Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The IOC celebrated its first World Olympic Day on 23 June 1948 with nine National Olympic Committees (NOCs) hosting ceremonies in their respective countries. Today, Olympic Day has evolved to become a key date in the Olympic Movement’s calendar, and has gained momentum worldwide with almost four million participants from around the world and 150 NOCs taking part last year.
Celebrating the birth of the Olympic Movement in 1894, Olympic Day is today much more than a sporting event. It is an opportunity to encourage the young and not-so-young, regardless of their sporting ability and their background, to get moving, learn about the benefits of physical activity, discover new sports and reflect on the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
Get involved and join in the Olympic fun!
What can you do to be part of Olympic Day? The majority of the 204 NOCs will be organising educational, cultural and sporting activities under the motto “Move, Learn and Discover”, which are featured on a world map. Check out here what’s going on near you!
In addition to these various activities organised around the world, we are reaching out to YOU, our millions of fans, and asking you to Get Active this June with your friends, family or by yourself, and capture the moment to enter a contest and win a trip to attend the inauguration of our new Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, next October.
All you have to do is upload a photo of yourself doing sport via the web or a mobile device to the Olympic Day contest page.
Time to get moving as the contest closes on midnight (GMT+1 time) Sunday 23 June! We look forward to seeing how you’re being sporty this June.
