After success at the Asian Youth Games, rugby sevens looks ahead to Nanjing 2014

This summer, Nanjing welcomed thousands of young athletes for the 2nd Asian Youth Games (AYG), including a whole host of rugby sevens players.

With less than a year to go until the second Summer Youth Olympic Games in the Chinese city, it was an opportunity for the players to get a hint of what to expect in 2014 when rugby sevens will be making its official debut on an Olympic programme, two years prior to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and we are delighted to say the fans went crazy for the fast-paced, tactical sport!

Being the newest Olympic team sport, rugby sevens had the opportunity during the AYG to showcase its finest Asian rugby talent where the interest in this sport is growing. Next year’s Youth Olympic Games will then offer the chance to young rugby players from across the world to go for gold.
