A London Visit for President Rogge

Taking advantage of being in London for the Wimbledon's men final, IOC President Jacques Rogge met today with Prime Minister Tony Blair and the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, at 10 Downing Street.

He was accompanied by the three British IOC members: Craig Reedie, Matthew Pinsent and Phil Craven - who was newly elected in Prague. Tessa Jowell, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and London 2012 Bid Chairwoman Barbara Cassani also attended the meeting. London is one of the world’s biggest cities which joins the race to host the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012.

At a press conference held in the Lewis Media Centre, the IOC President declared that he had had an excellent meeting with the Prime Minister and London’s Mayor. "They both demonstrated their strong support for London's bid. The Prime Minister was interested in hearing what the IOC's priorities are for a good bid".
