Today marks 50 days to go until the Opening Ceremony of the first Winter Youth Olympic Games and you can practically hear the young athletes pounding the slopes, slicing the ice and hitting the gym as they prepare for this immense event in all four corners of the world.
In Innsbruck itself, the excitement is mounting as the city gets ready for the arrival of more than 1,600 athletes and officials and the thousands of spectators that will follow in January.
To celebrate this landmark date, Innsbruck 2012 has announced the first 500 Youth Olympic torch bearers for the Youth Olympic Torch Relay – a list that includes top Austrian sports personalities such as Alpine skiing double Olympic champion Michaela Dorfmeister and world class swimmer Fabienne Nadarajah.
