312 gymnasts qualified for Athens

The Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has approved the lists of federations and gymnasts qualified for the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad in Athens. Three hundred and twelve athletes will compete in Athens in artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and men's and women's trampoline.

Around 30 countries

One hundred and ninety-six gymnasts - from 31 nations - will compete in the artistic gymnastic competitions, which will take place in the Olympic Indoor Hall - seating capacity 15,000 - between 14 and 23 August 2004.


The trampoline competition will also be held in the Olympic Indoor Hall on 20 and 21 August with the participation of 16 male and 16 female athletes from about 20 countries.

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Eighty-four gymnasts from approximately 20 countries will compete in rhythmic gymnastics between 26 and 29 August in the Galatsi Olympic Hall which has a seating capacity of 6,000.


On 24 August, a gala will be held at the Olympic Indoor Hall, with the participation of the Olympic and World Champions in gymnastics.
