2018 Briefing for IOC Members – 18 and 19 May 2011– Information for the media

The 2018 Briefing for IOC Members will take place on 18 and 19 May in Lausanne.

The purpose of the Briefing is to permit the 2018 Candidate Cities - Munich (Germany), Annecy (France) and PyeongChang (South Korea)* - to inform all IOC members about the technical aspects of their candidatures and to give IOC members an opportunity to put questions to the cities on their bids prior to the IOC Session in July in Durban, South Africa, where the host city for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games will be elected on 6 July 2011.

* Cities are listed in the order of drawing of lots.

Media representatives wishing to cover the events are requested to confirm their attendance via the IOC website.

Please note that the presentations made by the Candidate Cities to the IOC members on 18 May at The Olympic Museum will NOT be open to the media. However, media will have the opportunity to address the three cities and put questions to delegates during the day.

Footage and photos of the entrance of the delegations in the presentation room will be pooled and made available to broadcasters and written press onsite as well as those not able to travel to Lausanne. For more information on how to obtain these images, please contact

A media working room will be set up next to the restaurant on the top floor of the Museum.

Wireless cards will be available at the Museum reception desk.

2018 Briefing– presentation rooms open to the media

Each city will have a separate room in the Lausanne Palace Business Centre where it can display models, show bid videos, answer questions, etc. In the morning, IOC members will visit each city’s presentation room.  From 2 to 5 p.m. these rooms will be open to the media. A media working room equipped with wireless will be set up in the “Salon Olympique”.  

Media accreditation:

The same accreditation will enable you to cover the 2018 Briefing for IOC Members at The Olympic Museum and the Lausanne Palace Hotel. Please note that accreditations will be processed on the IOC website. For journalists whose profiles have already been entered for previous meetings, please connect to your profile with your e-mail address and tick the box for 2018 Briefing for IOC Members. For journalists who have not previously registered, please follow the instructions at the link below.

Please note that you will be able to collect your accreditation between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday 17 May at the IOC headquarters in Vidy. Otherwise, you may collect your accreditation badge from 9 a.m. onwards on 18 May directly at The Olympic Museum in Ouchy.
