2010 Candidate Cities in Lausanne for information seminar

Delegations from Vancouver, Salzburg, Pyeongchang and Bern, the four cities selected by the IOC Executive Board as Candidate Cities for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, met today in Lausanne for day one of a five-day seminar. Held at the Olympic Museum and the Hotel Alpha-Palmiers, the seminar is a new initiative for the IOC, designed to help the Candidate Cities by providing them with information as they prepare their candidature files.

The five-day seminar will involve lectures and presentations by IOC directors and experts in a wide variety of fields including Olympism and culture, finance, technology, sports, venues, accommodation, security, transport, communication and media services, marketing and legal aspects. Workshop sessions will also take place daily, enabling the Candidate Cities to gain a more in-depth knowledge and understanding of the various themes.

The deadline for Candidate Cities to submit their files is 10 January 2003. During February and March 2003 an IOC Evaluation Commission will visit all four cities before making a report to the Executive Board in May. The selection of a host city will be made and announced at the 115th IOC Session in Prague in July 2003.
