2007 World Conference on Sport and the Environment takes shape

The 7th World Conference on Sport and Environment, to be held from 25 to 27 October 2007 in Beijing, China, is taking shape. Under the title "From Plan to Action", the detailed programme now available features expertise and best practice from the Olympic Movement, NGOs, sponsors, the sporting goods industry and UN bodies. Taking place in the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games, the conference will devote an entire session to the different environmental challenges and opportunities the Beijing organisers are facing.
In plenary, parallel and on-site
The programme is centred around 3 plenary sessions with presentations from past and present Olympic Games Organising Committees (OCOGs), sponsors and athletes. Parallel sessions with best practice from International Federations (IFs), National Olympic Committees (NOCs), NGOs, major sports event organisers and themes related to Beijing 2008, sports manufacturing, developing countries and case studies will allow for an in-depth view as well as a discussion on past, present and future actions. Outside the conference rooms, the participants will have the opportunity to learn on-site about environmental aspects of the Olympic venues construction and local environment projects.
