124 Days Until the Singapore Session

In 124 days, the 117th IOC Session will begin in Singapore. www.olympic.org is devoting a special section to this event. The Session Organising Committee has also launched its web site, on which it provides information on the city and the hospitality reserved for the participants. Journalists can request accreditation online at www.olympic.org.

From 6 to 9 July 2005
The 117th IOC Session will be held in Singapore from 6 to 9 July 2005. Besides the election of the host city of the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012, which will be highlight of the Session, various other subjects will be addressed.
The IOC members will receive a full report on the progress made by the Organising Committees for the Turin 2006, Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010 Games, as well as the work accomplished by the IOC commissions and the administration. The Olympic sports programme will also be discussed.

Detailed programme
In this new section of www.olympic.org, there is also a detailed programme of the Session. Here you can see that the Session will open on 5 July at 7 p.m. (11:00 GMT + 8) in the Esplanade Theatre in Singapore. Work on 6 July will begin directly with the Candidate City presentations, which will be in the following order:

- 9 a.m. Paris
-10.30 a.m. New York
- 12 p.m. Moscow
- 2.30 p.m. London
- 4 p.m. Madrid

At 5.15 p.m. the IOC Evaluation Commission Chairwoman, Nawal el Moutawakel, will present her report, which will be followed by the IOC members’ vote. The result will be announced by IOC President Jacques Rogge at 7.30 p.m. (11:30 GMT + 8).

Journalist accreditation
The IOC also announced today the accreditation procedure for journalists. For the first time, this can be done online. www.olympic.org has developed specific forms to enable media organisations and individual journalists to submit their requests.

A first for Singapore
This is the first time the city of Singapore has hosted an IOC Session. The Organising Committee is sparing no effort to receive the IOC members and all other participants in the best conditions possible. The opening ceremony will take place in the Esplanade Theatre and the Session itself in the Raffles City Convention Centre. The web site www.singapore2005ioc.org.sg provides information on the running of the Session and gives practical advice to the participants, including information on the city and its tourist attractions. The site is also being used to recruit volunteers, who are essential for the smooth running of such an event.
