119th IOC Session in Guatemala City - Information for the Media


GENERAL INFORMATION
The annual general meeting of the members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will be held in Guatemala City from 4 to 7 July 2007.
 
The 119th IOC Session will take decisions on key policy issues and areas under its authority, including the election of the Host City for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games on 4 July from among the three Candidate Cities: Sochi (Russia), Salzburg (Austria), and PyeongChang (South Korea) - the cities are listed in the order of drawing of lots. 
 
Prior to the Session, the IOC Executive Board will meet from 1 to 3 July.
 
The meetings will be held in two hotels, the Real Intercontinental and the Westin Camino Real, which are located within two blocks of each other in Guatemala City.
 
The meetings of the Session, the presentations of the Candidate Cities, the vote to elect the Host City, the signature of the Host City Contract and all press conferences including the joint IOC/Host City press conference will take place at the Westin Camino Real.
 
The 2014 Host City Announcement Ceremony will take place at the Real Intercontinental.
 
ACCREDITATION
Please note that the accreditation system is now closed. If you wish to cover the events in Guatemala City and apply for an accreditation now, please go to the accreditation desk at the Westin Camino Real Hotel.

VISAS
All visa applications will be processed electronically at the following addresses:
www.visasguatemala.com or www.visasguatemala.org. Media representatives are requested to go through the Electronic Visa process from 12 April to 15 July.

TRANSPORT
The main hotels provide a shuttle service from and to the airport.  A certified taxi service will be available through the information desks located in the lobby of Westin Camino Real and the Real Intercontinental. The estimated cost is USD 0.77 per kilometre. The service can be paid in US dollars or Quetzales (local currency).
