112th IOC SESSION IN MOSCOW - PRELIMINARY ACCREDITATION INFORMATION
Lausanne, 27 February 2001 - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is opening the media accreditation process for its 112th Session in Moscow from 13 to 16 July 2001. During the Session, the IOC will take two landmark votes: to elect the host city of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008 on 13 July and to elect a new IOC President on 16 July. The media will be able to follow the proceedings via closed circuit and through scheduled briefings and news conferences.
In order to be eligible to attend media activities during the IOC 112th Session, all media representatives must complete the two step application process for accreditation. Only journalists with valid media credentials are allowed to apply for media accreditation.
Step 1: Accreditation by Number
This first step will allow the IOC to better assess the number and the needs of the media in Moscow. All media organizations sending journalists to the IOC 112th Session must submit the accompanying form by 18 March 2001, one form per organization only. Submission of this first form does not constitute accreditation but is compulsory.
Step 2: Accreditation by Name
In late-March, each journalist will have to complete an individual accreditation application form.
Work facilities will be provided. Details will be announced at a later date.
The IOC will propose a range of hotels for media representatives to consider and book through the official incoming agency of the Russian Olympic Committee. Details will be provided at a later date.
Each journalist is responsible for obtaining a valid visa.
