"Catch the light" - Olympic Look of Athens
During the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad, the city of Athens will present itself as never seen before. The Olympic Look Programme includes the "Catch the light project": a sequence of seven routes through the historic centre of Athens.
"Dressed" in light and images
All these routes - a total of 13.5 kilometres of roads, squares and pedestrian walkways - will be "dressed" in light and images. Seven Olympic landmarks - 9-metre-tall towers visible throughout the city - will be placed along the routes’ starting points, offering directions to the public. Twenty large inflatable spheres, hovering above the routes, will complete the setting.
Each route will be marked by a different name, theme and characteristic itinerary. The following themes have been chosen: Athens Reflections, Landscapes below Athens, Athens Scripts, Athens Colours, Athens Faces, Athens Windows and Listen to Athens.
Athens as never seen before
The aim of the Catch the Light project is to capture the attention of the visitors, inhabitants and television viewers in an original way, using exciting and spectacular images. The routes will feature and produce an image of Athens as never seen before.
