Nuit des Images 2019 : “Women and Sport” Circuit
During the 2019 edition of the Nuit des Images, walk through the Elysée gardens to The Olympic Museum. On the way, you will see portraits of exceptional female athletes and read their unusual stories, which are certain to make you rethink how you yourself view women in sport.
Arts outreach workshop - HERstory, Dialogue on women in sport
Ahead of the Youth Olympic Games taking place in Lausanne in January 2020, the Musée de l’Elysée is teaming up with The Olympic Museum in a photography project led by museologist Afshan Heuer entitled “Women, Gender and Sport”. When sport acts as a catalyst in the empowerment of women.
HERstory is an interactive workshop which invites the public to think about photography and talk to some leading figures from women’s sport, sports photography and museums on the place of women in sport.
In attendance will be Mine Kasapoglu, a sports photographer at the Olympic Games; Cédric Balaguier, who produced and directed the film Sarah, la combattante (Sarah, the fighter); and, for part of the evening, Virginie Faivre, President of the YOG Lausanne 2020 Organising Committee.
4-8.30 p.m. – Elysée basketball court
Mini-tour of the “We are Olympians, and You?” exhibition with a TOM coach
In 20 minutes flat, a journey to the heart of the Olympic values
4-10 p.m., every hour – start of the 100m track in the Olympic Park and The Olympic Museum entrance hall
La Flamme (The Flame) – A show by the Compagnie de l’Âtre
A show featuring short dynamic sketches on the milestones in the history of female Olympism, events, prejudices and victories.
5-9 p.m., every half-hour – 100m track in the Olympic Park
Showing of the film Sarah, la combattante, directed by Cédric Balaguier
In the words of the director: “Originally a film about boxing, Sarah, la combattante became a film about women.”
The director spent 10 years working alongside Sarah Ourahmoune, Olympic boxing silver medallist in 2016, and this is how he summarises her career: a genuine example of self-sacrifice and an ambassador for the cause of women.
