A construction to bridge two cultures, two architectural traditions, two political systems. For the Games in Beijing in 2008, Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron from Switzerland designed a spectacular stadium that became an international showcase for China.

Under the watchful lens of directors Christoph Schaub and Michael Schindhelm, who filmed their protagonists’ Chinese adventure over four years, the two architects constantly sought to find the right balance between depicting the greatness of a country on the rise, as per the wishes of the politicians, and respecting the traditions and well-being of the people.
