Singapore Youth Olympic Museum
The Singapore Youth Olympic Museum (SYOM) commemorates the hosting of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) and continues the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee’s (SYOGOC) vision of “Inspiring Youths, Sporting Singapore”. It also serves to promote Olympism within the region.
The SYOM provides a platform for visitors, particularly youths to discover and gain insight on the spirit of the Olympic Games, learn the Olympic Values and be inspired to embrace, embody and express these values in their lives. The philosophy of the YOG is not only about winning (Excellence) but also about the Olympic values of Friendship and Respect, both in the field of play and off it. Visitors will also be able to trace Singapore’s journey in the bidding and hosting of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games.
The SYOM adopts a Value-Based Education Philosophy. It seeks to raise awareness of the Olympic Values of Friendship, Excellence and Respect, as well as to facilitate understanding of these Values through stories of Olympians and “unsung heroes”. In addition, visitors are encouraged to practise and reflect on the Olympic Values through the various activities within the museum.
