Ashton Eaton is one of the greatest athletes of modern times. 

When he retired after Rio 2016, he had achieved everything there is to achieve in a discipline that is regarded as the true test of the all-round athlete: two Olympic titles, two world titles and a world record. 

But given he was only 28 when he stepped away from track and field, the question was: what would he do next? 

A new career with Intel 

“I gave the most physically robust years of my life to the discovery and pursuit of my limits in this domain,” said Ashton at the time. 

Did I reach them? Truthfully I’m not sure anyone really does. It seems like we tend to run out of time or will before we run out of potential. That makes humanity limitless then, as far as I’m concerned. And I think that’s inspiring.”

Now, Ashton is discovering the limits of his off-the-field potential through a new role as a product development engineer with Intel, working on technology that analyses human performance, including AI

On Tuesday 30 June, Ashton will take part in an exclusive Athlete365 webinar alongside Rick Echevarria, Intel Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s Olympic Programme. This is the latest webinar in our series that has already featured Olympic champions Eliud Kipchoge and Axel Lund Svindal, and will again be moderated by British Olympian and sports broadcaster Jeanette Kwakye
