On #Career
You should immerse yourself in new things, take the opportunity to explore what you like and then find a way to use the skills you’ve gained as an athlete to create a career out of it.
You have so much time while you are still training, especially if you are a full-time athlete, and I think you need to really use that time to prepare your second career. Don’t just stop your sport and then have no idea what to do next.
Now what? What do I want to do now? For the first time in my life, I didn’t have the answer right away.
When it comes time to retire, if you’ve been working or studying alongside your training then it will show any prospective employers that not only are you someone who has achieved fantastic results in sport – you’re also someone who understood that sport wouldn’t last forever and did something about it.
