Welcome to Athlete365: an exciting new brand that has been created by athletes, for athletes, and which unites all of the IOC’s athlete-focused initiatives and communication.
Building upon recommendation 18 of Olympic Agenda 2020, which is about supporting you (athletes) throughout your sporting and non-sporting career, the aim of Athlete365 is to improve the way the IOC communicates with you, and to provide better support to you on your journey to the Olympic Games and beyond. By doing this, we hope to build trust, increase engagement and improve the relationship between the athletes and the IOC, whilst also building a truly global community of athletes to ensure we’re represented, supported and active at every level.
A connected approach
For many years, the IOC has supported athletes through a number of coordinated programmes and events, including the Athlete Career Programme, Athlete Learning Gateway, Olympic Athletes’ Hub, IOC Space and International Athletes’ Forum.
Now, these initiatives will be united under one compelling brand, to promote the different strands of help and guidance that are available, and to enable you to better understand and connect with IOC programmes.
You will be able access this support via our new Athlete365 digital environment, physical outreach during Games-time, and also locally through International Federations and National Olympic Committees.
Empowering athletes every day
Athlete365 is a key part of the IOC Athletes’ Commission’s (AC) new Strategy, as it represents a new way of communicating with the worldwide athlete community – not only during Games-time, but on every step of your journey.
To achieve this, we will be providing content on essential topics that is both relevant and timely, and which will be divided into six key areas: voice, learning, finance, careers, well-being and Games-time. We have also identified nine athlete personas, to help us understand and address the needs of athletes globally, while imagery will focus on the individual rather than the sport, and the journey rather than the competition.
Athletes will be able to discover more at the Athlete365 Space during the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, and the Samsung Galaxy 8 Note that all athletes in PyeongChang will receive will have the new Athlete365 App pre-installed. This will allow you to connect directly with the IOC AC, and to learn about all the resources and programmes available to you.
The future development of the platform will be shaped by your feedback, so we encourage you to share any thoughts you may have about Athlete365 with us. It is just the first step of an exciting journey for us all, and I hope you enjoy using Athlete365, and, most importantly, find it a useful resource and join up to the community – you can subscribe here.
Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped make this a reality, it’s an exciting step, and I’m looking forward to taking the next one with you all.
To a stronger global athlete community,
IOC AC Member
