Members of the IOC Athletes’ Commission joined Athletes’ Entourage Commission Chair and Olympic Champion Sergey Bubka, to celebrate and collaborate with coaches all over the world, at this year’s ICCE Coaches Conference, held on the 9 and 10 August 2016.

The conference, which was held at Casa Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, featured an extensive programme of presentations, discussions and workshops, recognising the critical role of coaches in the success of athletes at all levels.

As the voice for athletes, IOC Athletes’ Commission members Adam Pengilly, Alexander Popov and James Tompkins joined other experts from the world of coaching and sports management to take part in dynamic and educational panel discussions focusing on “Athlete Needs and Perspectives: Performing in the Olympic Arena” and “How the daily training environment prepares the athlete for Olympic success”.

IOC Executive Board member and Athletes’ Entourage Commission Chair Sergey Bubka, who addressed the members of the ICCE Coaches Conference on Wednesday, stressed the importance of the ICCE Coaches Conference as “a great opportunity for all of us to come together for the well-being of athletes, to share our collective experiences, and learn from each other, “ noting that, “the better and more unified the entourage becomes, the better it is for the athletes, the Olympic Movement and for sport in general.”

The IOC Programmes developed exclusively for athletes and coaches were also presented at the ICCE Coaches Conference, by the outgoing chair of the IOC Athletes’ Commission Claudia Bokel.
