USA’s Chris Mazdzer has been re-elected as the Chairperson of the International Luge Federation’s (FIL) Athletes’ Commission in St Leonhard, Austria.
Chris had been re-elected to represent the voice of the global Luge athletes earlier this month along with compatriot Summer Britcher and Romania’s Raluca Stramaturaru — an announcement made by the FIL President, Josef Fendt, during the Captain’s meeting at the 48th World Championships in Winterberg, Germany.

I am so honored to have been re-elected by the luge athletes of the world as chair of the FIL Athletes Commission for another 4-year term. THANK YOU!!!! I do not take the responsibility of expressing and representing the views of luge athletes from around the world for granted and cannot wait to continue making this sport a better place for athletes. This sport is truly my passion and I will continue to fight for athlete rights, true sport and transparency. I promise that I will never throw in the towel although at times I do feel like throwing my helmet in frustration (not a good idea for the helmet or the wall 😬) And will continue to work hard for you and your teams. You can always talk to me about the good, the bad and the ugly of luge. That’s what I am here for and honesty it’s the best way to move ideas forward. So please feel to reach out if you ever have any luge related questions, comments or concerns!!! #thankyou #athleterep #luge #athletescommission #FIL #giveback
Chris, an Olympic silver medalist from Pyeongchang 2018, had been representing the athletes as the Chairperson over the past four years and is now set to continue those duties — even including sitting in the FIH Executive Board and helping add the perspective and opinions of athletes amongst the decisions and decision-makers on the board.
