Join our hosts and #Pandi the mascot for a celebration of your arrival in Argentina, where you’ll get a sneak preview of everything you can look forward to alongside your fellow athletes over the course of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
As your excitement and anticipation builds for of the start of the YOG, there’s no better way to kick-start your experience than by joining the thousands of other competitors in Buenos Aires at the official Athletes’ Welcome Ceremony on Friday evening.
From 19:30, embrace the festival spirit and join an extravagant parade of dancers, acrobats and musicians as they make their way through the Youth Olympic Village to the main square where the ceremony will take place.
The event will show you how to make the most of your YOG experience, let you know about many of the services and opportunities on offer while you’re in Buenos Aires, and introduce a number of important people who’ll be with you over the course of the Games.
Hear from IOC Athletes’ Commission chair Kirsty Coventry, IOC President Thomas Bach, a selection of our enthusiastic team of Young Change Makers and former champions in the form of our Athlete Role Models, all of who will be working to make sure that the next two weeks are truly special and memorable for you.
As well as some exhilarating performances and pyrotechnics you’ll be introduced to the Youth Olympic Village staff and shown how to connect with other athletes using your YOGGER. There may even be a surprise or two thrown in as well!
Ahead of the official Opening Ceremony on Saturday, the Athletes’ Welcome Ceremony offers you the chance to join in the party atmosphere of the Games with your fellow athletes before the competitions begin, and is the perfect opportunity to start your YOG on a high.
We look forward to seeing you there!
