IOC Athletes’ Commission member Britta Heidemann tells athletes about the exciting opportunities and resources available to them at the Athlete365 Space in PyeongChang

Dear Athletes,

Welcome to the Athlete365 Space!

Away from the snow and ice at PyeongChang 2018, this will be a hub for you to relax and socialise, take part in the IOC Athletes’ Commission (AC) Election, and discover the resources designed to support your development.

Staffed by myself and the other IOC AC members, the dedicated area is situated in front of the Olympic Village dining halls and contains many features. As well as a big screen broadcasting all of the live action from the Games, you can play table football, take photos at the photo booth and warm up in front of the fireplace after a day of intense competition.

Empower yourself by voting
With our chair Angela Ruggiero and my fellow members Adam Pengilly and Yang Yang reaching the end of their terms, six candidates – from three continents and competing in five different sports – are vying for election as the next two athlete representatives.

They are: Norwegian cross-country skier Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen; Spanish skeleton racer Ander Mirambell; American cross-country skier Kikkan Randall; Finnish ice hockey player Emma Terho; Chinese speed skater Hong Zhang; and Italian luger Armin Zöggeler. We will welcome the two elected representatives onto our commission as IOC Members for eight-year terms.

All accredited athletes taking part in the Games are free to vote, and I encourage you to do so by using the voting booths at the Athlete365 Space, where you can read about the candidates and maybe even meet them. Voting will close at midday on 21 February.

Discover Athlete365
While you’re here, you will also be able to access and ask us questions about the career-focused services provided by our exciting new Athlete365 platform, aimed at supporting athletes on and off the field of play.

In addition, a brand new Athlete365 app can be found on all the Samsung phones given to you at the Olympic Villages, granting quick and easy access to Athlete365 resources and programmes, as well as exciting and engaging content.

Looking forward to seeing you in PyeongChang!

Britta Heidemann
