Joint day with WOA

A total of 350 athlete representatives from nearly 200 National Olympic Committees (NOC) filled the Swisstech Centre in Lausanne for the first day of the 9th International Athletes’ Forum. Panels on Anti-Doping, the Solidarity Model and the launch of the brand new Athlete365 Business Accelerator covered the schedule keeping participants active and abreast with the developments and programmes being pushed by the IOC Athletes’ Commission to further support athletes the world over.

A stimulating speech by NASA Astronaut, Yvonne Cagle, hopefully, inspired the participants to push beyond their limits and aim for the stars. IOC President Thomas Bach then welcomed everyone to the biggest ever gathering of Athlete Representatives before reiterating his commitment to helping athletes. He asked for their ideas and interests to be put out on the table, so the community can grow and debate the best possible future.

Breakout sessions aimed at empowering ACs from all Olympic Movement stakeholders filled the afternoon with dialogue and a platform for the network to exchange ideas and initiatives.

The day was rounded off by a panel on anti-doping before a presentation on WADA’s ADAMS and doping-control process.
