Why did I want to be a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission?
It was a huge honour to become the IPC Athlete Council Chairperson and IPC representative on the IOC Athletes’ Commission.
One of my biggest focuses is continuing to strengthen the relationship between the IOC Athletes’ Commission and the IPC Athlete Council. I also want to contribute to giving all athletes a voice within the Olympic and Paralympic Movements.
What do the Paralympic Games mean to me?
The Paralympic Games are the pinnacle of any Para athlete’s sporting career. Years of hard work, dedication and commitment are rewarded with the opportunity to compete on the biggest stage of all. They are an opportunity to not only showcase sport, but to be part of shifting social perceptions of what “disability” means.
Role in the AC
As the IPC representative on the Commission, I focus on working with the IOC AC to give all athletes worldwide a voice, as well as enhancing athlete advocacy. I also contribute to developing the career transition programme.
Additional roles in the IPC
Member of the IPC Governing Board.
