With one Olympic gold medal under her belt, two World Championship titles in her locker and World Cup wins in all five Alpine ski disciplines under her belt, it’s no exaggeration to say Lindsey Vonn has achieved hero status. But even heroes need somebody to look up to, and as a young racer starting out on the circuit Lindsey’s idol was none-other that Olympic super G champion Picabo Street.

A rigorous training regime paid dividends as Team USA won the Gold medal in the Luge Mixed Team Relay event at the Olympic Sliding Centre Innsbruck. The USA was not heavily favoured coming into the Luge competition at the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games, but won the relay event in a time of 2:18.310 minutes, with Germany grabbing Silver in 2:18.708 and Austria taking the Bronze medal in 2:18.863.
