IMAGES & SOUND

The audiovisual archives from 1900 to present

MISSIONS

The IOC collects, preserves, uses and restores the collections of animated images and audio documents concerning the Olympic Movement.

The use of animated images is possible thanks to two montage control rooms and virtual montage stations (broadcast quality), sound recording booths, and viewing booths, using state-of-the-art technology.

The department works closely with the Olympic Television Archive Bureau (OTAB), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) organisation responsible for rights management administration procedure.

COLLECTIONS

The collection contains over 32,000 hours of films and 6,000 hours of audio documents, notably on:
• The Olympic Games from 1900 to the last edition of the Games – official films and world feed images
• IOC meetings and Olympic family activities.

A selection of films is available in the multimedia gallery.
