WELCOME AND SHOW (81 m2 and 154 m2 )

An audiovisual show entitled The Origins of Olympic Movement begins the visit to the Museum.

It provides a lively and forceful illustration of the importance and universality of the Olympic Movement.

It presents the key ideas behind the modern Olympic Movement, as devised by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, and shows the link with its origins in Ancient Greece.

THE OLYMPIC ADVENTURE (842 m2)

All kinds of information on Olympism and the development of the Olympic Movement.

This area is essentially devoted to the history and structure of the Olympic Movement, from its origins to the present day.

TORCHES AND SYMBOLS (108m2)

A first direct and intimate contact with the objects which symbolize the Olympic Movement. At the centre of the presentation stands a replica of the cauldron from the Games in Albertville, accompanied by a series of screens showing images of the torch relay.

GREEK AREA (216 m2)

Back to the roots of Olympism, with an exceptional display of original objects of great artistic and archaeological value: amphorae, vases and sculptures depicting sports scenes which illustrate the splendour of the ancient Olympic Games.

HISTORY OF THE OLYMPIC MOVEMENT (391m2)

The 8 presidents and the chronology of the Olympic Movement in relation to history as a whole.

Rebirth of the Games: Presidencies of Messrs Vikélas, Coubertin and Baillet-Latour.
Consolidation: Presidencies of Messrs Edström and Brundage.
Transition and modernity: Presidencies of Messrs Killanin and Samaranch.

A fourth display case looks ahead to the next Games: Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, London 2012 and Sochi 2014.

TWO INFORMATION STANDS

These give more details on issues linked to how the Olympic Movement functions: structure and spirit of the Olympic Movement, Solidarity, Education, Finance, Marketing and Media.
