AN ARCHITECTURAL SUCCESS
The best proof that the Olympic Museum is a true architectural success is the fact that you cannot see it. When approaching visitors ascend through the park from the shores of Lake Geneva, the museum is only gradually revealed one floor at a time.
The first Olympic Museum project caused a debate with the local authorities, after which the project was revised and finally approved.
The two architects, Pedro Ramirez Vazquez of Mexico and Jean-Pierre Cahen of Lausanne then had to modify their plans. They carefully studied the problem and proposed an alternative solution which harmoniously integrated the museum within the landscape while simultaneously conveying the Olympic ideals of Pierre de Coubertin.
The interior architecture was designed by the architect Miguel Espinet and the signage by Yves Zimmermann.
