SKI: JEAN-CLAUDE KILLY'S MODIFIED BOOTS

In 1968, the French skier Jean-Claude Killy achieved a remarkable exploit of winning the downhill, the giant slalom and the slalom events in Grenoble, France.

He placed in the care of the Museum his boots, skis, helmet, goggles and one-piece suit, as well as his three gold medals.

If you look carefully at the boot shown on the right, you will see that it has been modified to adapt it to the morphology of Jean-Claude Killy's ankle, which had been hurt in a car accident. It was Killy himself who altered the fit of his boot.

Jean-Claude Killy was co-president of the Olympic Winter Games of Albertville in 1992, and has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1995.
