Olympic Solidarity can strengthen and consolidate its structures on the basis of a fundamental principle: making full use of the help of its partners, i.e. the Continental Associations, International Federations (IFs), National Olympic Committees (NOCs) - particularly highly developed NOCs, the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), the high-level training centres, universities and various consultants.
The joint approach with Continental Associations, which has been ongoing for some years, is continuing to strengthen, and the decentralisation process currently under way is an excellent illustration of this. Thanks to the support of the technical departments of these Associations, Olympic Solidarity can easily monitor the evolution of its programmes on the five continents, in terms of both their development and their use, taking into account the specific needs of each continent.
The NOCs, for their part, play a more active role in choosing programmes on the basis of their needs, thereby enabling them to achieve better results for the development of sport in their country.
The technical know-how of the Olympic IFs is a vital element in implementing the various programmes. The IFs work on the technical sports courses and appoint the experts who lead them. They also advise Olympic Solidarity on fine-tuning, supervising and monitoring the scholarship programmes for athletes and coaches.
