Funding for Olympic Solidarity and its programmes is derived from a share of the television rights for the broadcast of the Olympic Games. Intended for the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), this share has always been Olympic Solidaritys only income.
Olympic Solidarity is responsible for administering and managing this budget through various programmes, established for the development of sport and intended for the NOCs and their Continental Associations, according to their needs and priorities. All these programmes, established on a quadrennial basis, are approved by the Olympic Solidarity Commission.
The current quadrennial plan (2005- 2008) has a development and assistance budget totalling US$ 244,000,000, which is 16.48% higher than the past four-year plan (2001-2004).
