BECOME A VOLUNTEER

The Olympic Movement is a social phenomenon, based on the activities of volunteers. Without the volunteers, the Olympic Games as we know them today would not exist. It is they who make up the great majority of the people involved in the successful staging of the Games.

From 8647 in Albertville (1992), 9054 in Lillehammer (1994) and 32,579 in Nagano (1998), there will be nearly 30,000 people supporting the Organising Committee for the Salt Lake City Games. Of all ages, cultures and various origins, they all share the same passion for sport and the Olympic Ideals. Besides the athletes, these are the people who best personify Olympism.

During the Games, in uniform, the volunteers offer their services in many fields. From welcome at the airports and train stations, to security at venues, catering, administration, ticketing and transport for athletes and officials, each one of their many talents is invaluable.

MEDIA OPERATIONS

Behind the scenes of the Games, there is also the media that relays the Olympic events and news to the whole world. For the XIX Olympic Winter Games, there are nearly 9,000 men and women who will provide pictures, text and photos of the Olympic Games.
