This “YOG on the road” pit stop is in Crans-Montana for the FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships. This event is one of the qualifiers for the YOG, so we caught up with some of the racers who will be going on to Innsbruck in 2012 to find out what the Games mean to them.
With an exclusive pass to join the racers in pre-competition training, the day started at the crack of dawn at the very top of the mountain where we caught up with some of the coaches about how the racers prepare and how they calm their nerves before a race!
We chatted to the racers about how it feels to be at the Junior World Championships and how they prepare themselves before they race. Those in the age category for Innsbruck 2012 also shared their excitement about this first-ever winter Youth Olympic Games.
For the ladies’ downhill race, our camera crew had an amazing on-course view right next to one of the jumps. With cloudless blue skies and the backdrop of the Matterhorn, it was perfect day to make an awesome “YOG on the road” video!
Check out the racers in this video; some of them you will spot again in Innsbruck 2012!
PS. … did anyone see a marmot??
