It seems the last 12 months have been filled with career highlights for 18-year-old curler Sarah Anderson. One year after competing in the first Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, where Sarah placed fifth with her mixed gender curling team, the American athlete has caught the attention of the senior USA team.
Still a high school student in Pennsylvania, earlier this year Sarah was hand-picked by national champion Erika Brown to shadow her squad, including four Olympic athletes, at the 2013 World Women’s Championships in Riga, Latvia. Awestruck and honoured, Sarah was all too keen to have the opportunity to observe and work with the best curlers in the world.
With the Youth Olympic Games being “a fun and eye-opening experience”, and following her recent participation in the Women’s World Championships, Sarah is determined more than ever to play in great competitions and improve her game to perhaps one day stand on an Olympic podium.
