Over the past year, young American biathlete Sean Doherty has been turning heads with his outstanding performances. It now seems his own head is spinning in disbelief as the YOG medallist secures a spot on the US Olympic biathlon team.
In a matter of days, Sean will be boarding the plane for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, as the youngest member of the US Olympic biathlon team. In his first season in the senior elite circuit, the 18 year-old did not expect to be on route to achieving his Olympic dream just yet.
Inspired after his success at Innsbruck 2012, where he claimed bronze in the biathlon mixed relay, the rising star went on to win gold and two silver medals at the IBU Junior World Championships in Austria last year, making him the first US biathlete to take to the podium three times in a single World Championship competition.
We predict a bright future ahead for Sean, and wish all the Youth Olympic Games athletes in Sochi a fantastic Olympic experience!
