Panasonic is set to help young athletes at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Lillehammer 2016 share their personal experiences with the world through an innovative project that will form part of the Learn & Share Programme.

The Worldwide Olympic Partner will provide its cutting-edge wearable action cameras and handheld camcorders for the YOG Athlete Point of View(POV) workshops, run by Olympic Broadcasting Services, which will give young athletes the opportunity to shoot and edit a video story from their own point of view during the Games.

The “Shooting Your Story” and “Editing Your Story” sessions will be held throughout the YOG as part of the Learn & Share Programme, teaching young athletes about the storytelling process as well as technical skills such as composition, shooting angles and editing.

The athletes will be encouraged to use these techniques to produce creative and original films that show what life is like for participants at the YOG, including their training experiences, the Youth Olympic Village, other Learn & Share activities or anything else they find interesting in Lillehammer.

The 2nd Winter YOG are due to take place in the Norwegian town from 12 to 21 February, bringing together approximately 1,100 young athletes from 70 National Olympic Committees, who will compete across all seven winter Olympic sports.

In addition to providing cameras to the YOG Athlete POV workshops in Lillehammer, Panasonic has been supplying state-of-the-art digital audio/video equipment for the Olympic Games since 1984 and became a member of The Olympic Partner (TOP) Programme in 1987.
