For many of the young athletes, their first international sporting event can be a daunting experience. The Athlete Role Models with their wealth of experience will keep the door of their lounge open all through the Youth Olympic Games to offer advice and informal chats to the athletes in a chilled out environment.
Surrounded by mementos of the ARMs from their experiences at the Olympic Games, the lounge really is a fitting location to get some guidance from those who know what it takes to be an Olympian.
Erin Cafaro, two-time gold medallist in rowing (USA), who lives by the motto “Make your weakness your strength”, will be just one of the thirty-eight ARMs on site to pass on words of wisdom to the athletes in the lounge and help them get the most out of their experience in Nanjing and beyond.
The ARM lounge is part of the Culture and Education programme, which offers athletes key skills and advice to help them both on and off the field of play.
