You couldn’t miss them in their colourful pixelated jackets, welcoming fans to the venues, helping athletes with any questions and ensuring the smooth running of the Games behind the scenes, the smiles on their faces never faltering.

Indeed, without the 1,200 volunteers at the Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Games, there would have been no YOG. So, to mark International Volunteer Day (5 December), we would like to take the opportunity to say a big thank-you to them and their counterparts at the London 2012 London Olympic Games in this exclusive video.
