The London 2012 Torch Relay has continued its journey through Scotland, with inspirational Torchbearers carrying the Olympic Flame through communities including Stornoway, Aberdeen and Dundee.
Monday 11 June saw the Flame travel more than 138 miles on its journey from Stornoway to Aberdeen. The day began at 4.20am when former Olympian Kirsty Wade carried the Flame to the Callanish Stones for sunrise, where a lone piper was wearing a specially commissioned gold and white kilt.
Later in the morning, the Flame travelled by quad bike in the hands of Torchbearer John Mitchell, from Stornoway, who is a three-time quad motor cross champion. Other Torchbearers included Scottish rugby player Beth Macleod, promising athlete Eilidth Mackenzie and Robert Young, who was nominated for the work he does for Paralympic skiers.
Along the way, the Flame visited landmarks including Inverness Castle and Balmoral Castle before an evening celebration in Castlegate Square, Aberdeen. The final Torchbearer of the day was Evelyn Capper, 60, who was selected for her passion and commitment to foster caring.
The following day, the Flame travelled over 132 miles and was carried by 124 inspirational Torchbearers as it made its way from Aberdeen to Dundee.
The first Torchbearer of the day was Lindsay Rennie, 46, from Arborath, who has swum across the River Tay three times for charity, raising over £7,000 in the process. The Torch then travelled through 21 communities on its way to Dundee, passing landmarks such as Scone Palace.
Other Torchbearers on the day included inspirational youth worker Franny McGrath, 42, charity fundraiser Samuel Murray, 57, and curler Jackie Lockhart, who competed for Great Britain in the 1992, 1998, 2006 and 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Budding swimmer Mark Szaranek, 16, from Fife, then carried the Flame past the Desperate Dan statue in Dundee before the city hosted an evening celebration, featuring Scottish singer Emeli Sandé.
