A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week at the site of the Olympic Sliding Centre for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. The ceremony was attended by members of the PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee, local officials and members of the public.
The sliding centre will be built according to the standards of the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT) and the International Luge Federation (FIL) in PyeongChang, and will include seven buildings and a track of 2018 metres.
The project will also comprise a start and finish house, an access bridge and road, machinery buildings, and the installation of power and communications infrastructure. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2016 with the final completion of the centre scheduled for the end of 2017.
