Athletes and International Federations support first Winter Youth Olympic Games

14/12/2010

As the winter season ramps up, preparations for the first Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Innsbruck in 2012 are in full flow, and not without the support of the winter International Federations and top athletes!

Activity over the last few weeks has seen the YOG making appearances at several of the winter events. The first was at the opening of the Luge World Cup season in Innsbruck with a young Innsbruck 2012 forerunner. Next came the opening of the Biathlon World Cup in Sweden, and most recently the European Curling Championships in Switzerland.

Teams from the IOC and Innsbruck 2012 have been attending these events to hand out goodies to the crowds, inform the media about the exciting first Winter YOG and also to interview some top athletes who are Innsbruck 2012 fans.

Here on the left is one of the great shots of the athletes (check out the Swedish curling team), and we let biathlon Olympic gold medallist Vincent Defrasne show off his photography skills with this picture he took of biathlete Marie Dorin!

This campaign will continue into 2011, so if you are at some of the winter events, keep an eye out for the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games!
