The Ethics commission is defined in Rule 22 of the Olympic Charter; it is elected by the IOC Session.

Its composition and organisation are set out in its Statutes. It is composed of nine members, no more than four of whom are active IOC members, one of whom is an Athletes’ Commission member, and at least five prominent personalities known for their independence of spirit, their competency and their international reputation who are not active IOC Members, and at least two of whom have no direct link with sport.

At its next meeting in Kuala Lumpur in August 2015, the IOC Session will vote on the composition of the Commission.
