How to… be a Young Ambassador

The Youth Olympic Games in Singapore not only played host to over 3,600 elite athletes, it also welcomed 30 Young Ambassadors from around the world who engaged and motivated the participants to take part in the Culture and Education Programme.

Ranging from former Olympians and professional athletes, to students and entrepreneurs, the Young Ambassadors were chosen by their respective National Olympic Committees because of their commitment to the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.

In Singapore, they spread the word that YOG was not all about winning, but also about education and discovering new cultures. They were on hand to show the athletes how to engage in social media, to discuss the importance of a balanced lifestyle and to offer advice on the paths available to them after their sporting careers.

Check out the important role the Young Ambassadors played at the first Youth Olympic Games in this video. You can also follow them on facebook.
