Innsbruck welcomes the YOG 2012 Young Ambassadors
9/6/2011

A short-track speed-skating dentist from Hungary, a three-time Olympian from Croatia and a singing cross-country skier from Sweden were just three of the diverse collection of 33 Young Ambassadors (YAs) who descended on Innsbruck this weekend.

The YAs will act as guides for the young athletes, encouraging them to get involved in the Culture and Education Programme (CEP) and to make the most of the opportunities on offer.

They were invited to Innsbruck for a pre-Games seminar in order to learn more about the CEP, get to know each other and receive some important words of advice from the IOC’s Olympic Games Executive Director, Gilbert Felli.

Local goat Yoggl also made an appearance, joining the group for a teambuilding exercise at Nordkette Innsbruck, one of the CEP venues for the Games next January, before playing tour guide and showing the gang some favourite spots.

Speaking at the farewell dinner before everyone made their journeys back to their various countries, the local YA from Austria, Florian, who also served as a YA at the first Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010, said: "I felt so lucky to go to Singapore and now I can't believe I get to do it all again here, in my home country. But, even though I have been in this role before, I don't think I need to give the Innsbruck Young Ambassadors any advice. They are an amazing group of people and I am sure that we will continue the great legacy the Singapore 2010 ambassadors have left us."

We shot some awesome footage with each of the Young Ambassadors while in Innsbruck and will introduce you to them very soon! Watch this space!
