New for the YOG!

The competition rules and difficulty level of the routines at the YOG had been modified to safeguard the health and development of the athletes. Also, participation in the YOG gymnastics competition was limited to those who have not yet competed in senior competitions or multi-sport games. 



Competition format


Artistic


A maximum of one man and one woman per country competed in Artistic Gymnastics. Men  competed in seven events: Individual All-Around, Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar. Women competed in five events: Individual All-Around, Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise.


Rhythmic


Rhythmic gymnastics was women-only at the YOG. A maximum of five women per country could compete (one in the individual event and four in the group event). There were two events: the Individual All-Around and the Group All-Around. In the Individual All-Around, there were four apparatus: Rope, Hoop, Ball and Clubs. In the Group All-Around there were two apparatus: Ribbon and Hoop. All four gymnasts used the same apparatus in each exercise.


Trampoline


A maximum of one man and one woman per country could compete in the Trampoline event.
