The World Conference on Sport for All is a window for the movement whose development finds a strong support. This is a platform for sharing experience and best practice by the various Olympic family constituents, sports organisations and Sport for All bodies, the academic world and institutional partners.
Next meeting in 2013
The International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Sport for All Commission encourages the promotion of the Sport for All movement with the World Conferences on Sport for All, organised every two years. This event provides an ideal forum for exchanging ideas and experiences in the field of Sport for All at an international level. In the future, the Conference will no longer be held during Olympic years, but in uneven years. The next Conference will take place in Lima, Peru, from 24 to 27 April 2013.www.sportforall2013.org
The IOC has granted its patronage to this event since 1986. Since 1996, by SportAccord (formerly the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF)), which has cooperated with the IOC in the organisation of the Conference.
Since the 1998 edition in Barcelona, the IOC has entrusted the organisation of the Conference to a National Olympic Committee (NOC). Those NOCs wishing to host the Conference submit a file in response to a set of specifications and requirements.
A coordinating committee, responsible for defining the format of the Conference, ensuring the continuity of its aims, and maintaining a high standard of content, is established with representatives from all the organising partners.
In cooperation with the coordinating committee and the local organising committee, the IOC defines the general format of the programme and the themes, evaluates abstracts of papers and selects speakers.
